The Shire holds regular ceremonies throughout the year; Australia Day along with two to three other ceremonies per year.
The time varies between three and six months after you have received approval from the Department of Home Affairs. Note that the waiting time starts from the date of approval, not the interview date.
The Shire will advise on the location of the ceremony in your invitation.
The Shire endeavours to give you as much notice as possible, however this usually ranges between four to six week prior to the ceremony in the form of an email invite.
That’s ok! Let us know and we will keep you in mind for the next one.
We look forward to seeing you at the ceremony! If you need anything during that time, please seek assistance from the Shire.
Usually no more than 10 per family however this may change depending on the current Department of Health guidelines.
Upon check in you are required to prove your identity; an Australian driver’s licence or if you do not hold a driver’s licence additional forms of identification may include: passport, credit cards, Medicare card or bills showing your name and current address.
The citizenship ceremony generally takes an hour depending on the number of participants.
Smart attire is encouraged.
Please inform the Shire along with the Department of Home Affairs.
If you have lost your citizenship certificate you must contact the Department of Home Affairs to arrange for a replacement.
