Volunteer Bushfire Brigades Open Day

Volunteer Bushfire Brigades Open Day
16 Apr 2024

Volunteer Bushfire Brigades across the Shire will open their doors on 4 May to attract volunteers.

The Bushfire Brigades across the Shire will open their doors on Saturday, 4 May 2024, from 11am to 1pm with the aim to attract volunteers.

As winter approaches, the Shire of Harvey is preparing for the next fire season by increasing the number of volunteers in our Bushfire Brigades.

The Volunteer Bushfire Brigades are seeking dedicated individuals to join their teams. You will undergo thorough training and receive support from fellow brigade members committed to serving our community during emergencies.

As a Volunteer Firefighter, your responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the brigade in both operational and non-operational capacities.
  • Following lawful directives from brigade officers, crew leaders, and DFES staff.
  • Ensuring the safety of yourself and those around you.
  • Regularly inspecting and maintaining equipment and facilities.
  • Attending emergency incidents whenever available.

If you're unsure whether firefighting is for you, or if you prefer a supporting role, come meet your local volunteers at Bushfire Brigade's open day and have a chat.
