Stage 2 of the Cathedral Avenue Shared Path Project in Australind has begun. This work involves upgrading 1700m of 2m-wide deteriorated pathway with wider 2.5m red concrete shared pathway. The work is occurring at the intersection of Lofthouse Drive and Cathedral Avenue. The existing path is closed while work is being carried out. Stage 2 will connect the new path to the shared path from Lofthouse Drive to Buffalo Road built during Stage 1 works last year. It will also complement the 2022 road upgrades to Cathedral Avenue from Australind Road to Buffalo Road. The Cathedral Avenue Shared Path Project is designed to improve connectivity by linking existing cyclist and pedestrian pathways in Australind. Infrastructure upgrades will also improve safety in the area. The Project was identified in both the Shire of Harvey Local Bike Plan and the Bunbury Wellington 2050 Cycle Plan. This project is jointly funded by the Shire of Harvey and the State Government through the Department of Transport. Stage 2 works are expected to be completed in April.
