The Shire of Harvey was excited to host the inaugural SportDaze event on Saturday, 5 November 2022.
The Shire of Harvey would like to thank the event sponsors, SportAus and Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries for providing funding and support which enabled the event to be a great success.
The event attracted local sporting clubs, associations and families to the Leschenault Recreation Park for a day of fun, community workshops and over 22 activities, rounding out the day with a family friendly movie at the outdoor cinema.
Some highlights from the day included Shire of Harvey President Paul Gillett competing against local tennis superstar Alifaye Gidgup in a friendly tennis match, the crowning of the South West Burpee Boss, Leah York (completing 795 burpees in one hour) and Proud 2 Play managing a Pride Round across multiple sporting codes.
The Shire of Harvey would like to extend a special thank you to local Elder Dennis Jetta for delivering a wonderful Welcome to Country to open the event. The Shire would also like to thank all the clubs, organisations, workshop hosts, staff and volunteers for providing fun activities and information for the local community on the day.
The Shire of Harvey looks forward to working with local sporting clubs and associations for all future events.
