The Shire welcomed 26 new citizens at a ceremony in Harvey on Tuesday, 5 April.

The Shire welcomed 26 new citizens at a citizenship ceremony at the Harvey Town Hall on Tuesday, 5 April 2022.

The Shire's newest citizens came from nine countries, including the Philippines, New Zealand, India and Vietnam.

Shire President Paul Gillett said presiding over citizenship ceremonies was one of the greatest honours of his role.

"It’s always wonderful welcoming people from all walks of life, religions and backgrounds to be part of our diverse community," Cr Gillett said.

Almost 20 per cent of people in the Shire of Harvey were born overseas, with England, New Zealand, South Africa and the Philippines being the top four countries of origin.

Congratulations to all new citizens and welcome!
