The project will implement new towers and upgrade existing towers in the Harvey Region and Busselton.

Harvey Region has successfully secured the major component of a $1.6 million Round Two Federal Regional Connectivity Program funding package to improve South West digital connectivity.

The $3.4 million project will implement new towers and upgrade existing towers in the Harvey Region and Busselton.

Around 8,400 businesses and residential properties will benefit.

As part of the Federal Government’s multi-million-dollar package to boost regional connectivity, service provider NodeOne (Swoop) has successfully secured funding for its $3.4 million project to improve broadband services within the Harvey Region and Busselton.

Shire of Harvey President Paul Gillett said this is a much-needed service to expand the connectivity in the Harvey Region and we welcome this funding.

“Wireless connection is so important, especially for local businesses in the Harvey Region and we welcome any improvements which will enhance the way business can be done,” Cr Gillett said.

“When our residents, businesses and visitors have digital connectivity, our communities thrive.”

In December, the Shire conducted an Internet and Mobile Phone Service Survey.

“The survey feedback supplied by Harvey Region residents and businesses was invaluable and provided NodeOne with clear evidence for the grant application.”

NodeOne/Swoop will establish 10 new fixed wireless sites, six within the Harvey Region, and upgrade two existing local sites.

The towers will cover 850sqKm in the Harvey Region to connect to its existing network near Bunbury and the major data centres in Perth.

The improved service will provide up to 150 Mbps in reliable bandwidth.

It will also assist in filling any blackspots in the area.
