Bushfire Risk Mitigation Coordinator

As the coordinating local government and on behalf of the Shires of Boddington and Wandering, the Shire of Harvey is recruiting for a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the role of Bushfire Risk Mitigation Coordinator.

The position will work for the Shires of Harvey, Boddington and Wandering in developing and implementing the local government Bushfire Risk Management Plans, including the identification and mitigation of bushfire risk within the local communities. The position is being funded by the three local governments and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

Do you have?

  • Experience and knowledge of emergency management and bushfire risk management
  • Experience in applying bushfire mitigation strategies that sustain the natural environment
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workloads to meet deadlines

Conditions and Benefits

The full-time position is offered as a contract of up to three-years with an annual salary of $98,896. Employment conditions are in accordance with the Local Government Officers’ (WA) Award 2021. Some of the conditions and benefits are:

  • Superannuation of 11.5 per cent occupational superannuation from date of commencement, with an opportunity that the Shire will match an employee’s voluntary contribution to their nominated plan provided that employee contributes an amount of at least 5 per cent or 6 per cent of their own salary.
  • Shire vehicle provided for during business hours and commuter use in accordance with Shire Policy.
  • Mobile phone for business use in accordance with Shire Policy.
  • Four weeks paid annual leave.
  • One rostered day off is available after every 19 working days.  Rostered days off cannot be accumulated.
  • Free membership to the Leschenault Leisure Centre, the Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre and the Dr Peter Topham Memorial Swimming Pool.    
  • A medical examination and current police clearance will be required prior to appointment, costs to be reimbursed by the Shire.
