Youth Events

The Shire of Harvey provides a variety of creative, sport and recreational events for young people that are fun and inclusive.

The Shire hosts two main annual events and we are proud to support various youth school holidays events and activities throughout the year.

About the event

Are you ready for an evening of fun and entertainment at Youthchella 2023?

Designed for young people aged 10 - 18, the iconic Shire of Harvey youth festival will bring together a mix of fun activities, Western Australian artists and delicious food.

Popular bands King Blue and Rubyhoo  will take to the stage with powerful indie pop, alternative rock and party music performances against a backdrop of exciting activities including bungy jumping, bubble soccer and laser tag.

Youth will also have the opportunity to meet with local emergency service teams, chat with youth mental health organisation representatives and jump in a driving simulator at this jam-packed event. 

Youthchella 2023 is supported by Tronox, Southern Ports and South32 and will be held at Ridley Place Australind Foreshore on Saturday, 21 January 2023 from 4pm to 7pm. 

This is a drug and alcohol free event.

Youth Photo Exhibition

About the event

Photographers aged 10-18 can submit up to 5 photos each that reflects the theme "What's important to YOUth."

Entry is free. Please email your photo/s to communitydevelopment@harvey.wa.gov.au along with a
description of the image/s. 

Or drop in copies to Shire of Harvey libraries with your name, contact details and description of image/s.

Young Leaders Conference

About the event

The goal of the conference is to empower and inspire emerging leaders and provide the necessary tools to identify and understand community issues around them.

The Young Leaders Conference welcomes young people aged 10 to 18 who are motivated to expand their leadership skills and engage in important discussions with a focus on leadership opportunities and inclusion solutions.

The Young Leaders Conference is supported by the Department of Communities.

Planning for the 2023 Young Leaders Conference is currently underway.

Voices of Our Youth - Annual Survey

Young people in the Shire of Harvey can now have their say through the Voices of our Youth Annual Survey.

The Survey gives youth an opportunity to share their needs, experiences and aspirations.

This feedback will help the Shire develop an increasingly fun, safe and welcoming community for young people.

The Survey is for residents aged 10 to 18. Participants will go in a draw to win a $100 voucher.
