Join the Youth CollectiveApplications are open for the 2024 Shire of Harvey Youth Collective.
The Youth Collective is a group of young people aged 12 to 18 that help the Shire plan and deliver youth-focused events and activities over a 12-month period.
The group also meet regularly to discuss relevant issues and advise Shire of Harvey Officers and Council on youth related matters.
Through the Youth Collective, young people make a difference in their community, as well as:
- Expanding their communication and event management skills;
- Gain leadership and negotiation skills;
- Make lasting friendships in a warm and inclusive environment;
- Improve their CV and appeal to future employers by undertaking meaningful opportunities as part of the Youth Collective;
- Have their ideas heard and considered by local government representatives and community stakeholders;
- The opportunity for sponsored attendance at large events in the Shire and free entry to touring shows of interest in the Shire;
- Collaboration with other Youth Collectives and tours of other youth venues and sporting facilities outside of the Shire of Harvey.
In 2023, the Youth Collective helped deliver major events, including school holiday programs and Youthchella.
Meetings will be held at Lot 208 Youth Inc (behind Australind Library) and in Harvey (as decided by the group), starting in May 2024. Options to join via Zoom will be available and snacks or dinner is provided at meetings.
The Shire of Harvey Youth Collective is part of a wider commitment to better support local youth. Read about this commitment here: Voices of Youth 2021-2026
