The Aboriginal Leadership Hiking Program (ALHP) is a 12 month leadership development program for Aboriginal peoples developed by a partnership between the Shire of Harvey and Harvey Aboriginal Corporation. The program provides opportunity for participants to study courses at TAFE, whilst also attending guided hikes and developing an eco-cultural tour product.
TAFE courses available for participants
- Certificate II in Leadership – Semester 2, 2021 (10 placements); and
- Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management – Semester 1, 2022 (five placements); or
- Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management (five placements).
Elder Lesley Ugle is the project lead for the Aboriginal participants and she also heads up the Harvey Aboriginal Corporation. She has played a key role in developing the project with the Shire, and in recruiting the participants to take part in the program.
