Permits to burn are required for the restricted burning period and must be obtained from the Bush Fire Control Officer.

Leeuwin Scholarships Now Open

Young people in the Harvey Region can now apply for a Leeuwin Scholarship.

Applications to participate in the 2024 Youth Explorer Voyage are open until Friday, 14 June 2024.

Every year several scholarships are offered to residents aged 15 to 25 years to sail the Indian Ocean onboard the STS Leeuwin II for six nights and seven days. 

Scholarships are available for the following voyage:

  • 31 August to 6 September 2024. Departing from Fremantle, arriving in Fremantle. 

The Leeuwin Sail Training Program began in 1989 and is managed by the Shire of Harvey, with the valuable support of the Rotary Club of Harvey and the Lions Clubs of Harvey, Brunswick and Australind.

Each scholarship application is assessed by the Community Sail Training Trust Advisory Group.
