London Plane Trees - Uduc Road, Harvey
Three Plane trees out of 19 planted in the centre of Uduc Road are starting to cause significant damage to the road infrastructure. Several other trees are also starting to lift the road surface due to the root growth.
Council considered a report on the trees at its Ordinary Meeting held on 25 October 2022 and approved the removal of three London Plane trees in the centre of Uduc Road between Young Street and Hayward Road in Harvey.
Removal of Trees and Road Closure
In accordance with Council’s decision, the three identified trees will be removed on Tuesday 29 November 2022 with works commencing at 6pm. The works should be completed by midnight. This will allow for the full removal of the trees, stumps and the necessary road repairs to make the site safe for the resumption of traffic and pedestrian access the next day.
Uduc Road between Hayward Street and Becher Street will be temporarily closed during the works and appropriate traffic management will be in place.
Due to the nature of the works, some significant noise will be generated because of the use of chainsaws, mulching machine and stump grinder. All efforts will be made to keep the noise to the minimum requirements and complete the works as soon as reasonably practical.
Regarding the future management options for the existing trees along Uduc Road between Young Street and Hayward Street, a separate consultation process will be arranged next year.
