NBN Upgrades in Yarloop

NBN Upgrades in Yarloop
28 Nov 2022

Work has started on the upgrades to the nbn Fixed Wireless network in Yarloop.

Last year, we asked residents to complete a short survey to help us improve internet and phone services and increase connection levels in the Harvey Region.

The Shire is working together with NBN (internet), Swoop (internet), Telstra (phone/mobile) and other government agencies to improve services and we are excited to announce that nbn Australia has started works on upgrading the nbn Fixed Wireless network in Yarloop, providing access to faster speeds and extending the coverage of the nbn Fixed Wireless network.

When complete, the upgrades will expand the reach of the existing Fixed Wireless footprint by at least 50%, as well as enabling two new high-speed fixed wireless plans – up to 100mbps and 250mbps. nbn is currently consulting with industry on the launch of the higher speed tiers. The additional capacity and reach available on the upgraded network will enable up to 120,000 existing Satellite-only premises to access nbn Fixed Wireless for the first time.

To enable the upgrades, nbn is introducing new technology and replacing some hardware on their fixed wireless towers. This will mean some planned outages that may impact homes and businesses. After the tower works are completed, nbn expect that many customers should experience an improvement in speeds on their nbn Fixed Wireless service.

The upgrade work is scheduled to begin in Yarloop in the coming weeks. The tower works will not impact nbn fixed line or nbn Sky Muster satellite services. Other tower upgrades in the Harvey Region will be rolled out over the next 18 months.

Impacted homes and businesses will be notified of any outages via their retail service provider.

Information will also be available via the network status page on the nbn website

Please note, The Shire of Harvey is unable to advise on phone and internet plans.
