Australia Day celebrations in the Shire began with community breakfasts in Australind, Binningup, Brunswick and Harvey followed by citizenship ceremonies in Australind and Harvey.
The Shire welcomed 70 new Australian citizens from more than 10 countries, including New Zealand, United Kingdom, Cambodia and the Philippines.
Shire President Paul Gillett said Australian citizenship ceremonies are an important part of our nation's celebrations, with more people becoming citizens on Australia Day than any other day of the year.
"Australia Day gives all citizens, whether by birth or choice, the opportunity to openly reflect on what it means to be Australian and to celebrate our great nation - our rich indigenous and migrant history and our promising future," Cr Gillett said.
Congratulations to all new citizens and welcome!
