The Shire of Harvey has adopted a new policy to encourage the use of energy efficient street lighting.
The Shire of Harvey has adopted a new Street and Public Area Lighting Policy. The policy outlines street lighting service levels, general design standards and encourages the use of energy efficient lighting infrastructure. Under the policy, developers must provide the most energy efficient lighting available from Western Power’s standard range. The Shire will also use LED lighting that is designed to meet the requirements of AS1158 when it installs lights in public areas. Other policy highlights include a commitment to inspect Shire owned lights for operational efficiency once per year, seeking electricity tariff discounts to ensure the Shire only pays for services it receives and requesting Western Power implement a replacement program for areas and roads with significant failing lights. Read the new policy here. For more information about street lighting in the Harvey Region, visit our Street Lighting page.
